Shaun Leane, a Hatton Garden based jewellery designer, has been awarded the prestigious International Designer of the Year award at a ceremony hosted by Harper’s Bazaar Jewellery China.
The winner of the award was decided through a combination of reader votes and a small number of influential jewellery designers and executives, artists and fashion professionals, and Leane is said to have fought off “impressive competition” in order to claim the prize.
One of the key reasons for Leane’s victory is thought to be his Contra Mundum diamond-set glove, which was created in partnership with artist and notable fashion figure Daphne Guinness – Harper’s Bazaar Jewellery China readers voted the piece as one of their favourite designs of the year.
Commenting on the award, Leane revealed: “It means so much to myself and my team for our work to be recognised and appreciated by such a prestigious publication as Harper’s Bazaar Jewellery. Having entered the Chinese market just over a year ago, it is a tremendous triumph with such a title.”
Here at the Hatton Garden directory, we’d like to extend our warmest congratulations to Shaun and his team – we’re sure they’ll be the recipients of many more awards over the coming years.
