Jewellery fashion of the past – 1970s, like vintage jewellery. Then you’ll love our new blog series. We’ve already covered the prim 1950s and the swinging 1960s. This week we’ll be telling you how you can recreate the funky looks of the 1970s.

The 1970s featured some great iconic fashion trends – flares, bell bottoms, and platform shoes, to name a few. The jewellery styles were some of the most iconic of all. At the beginning of the decade. Trends from the 1960s carried over, with women piling on bangles. Bright colours and plastic jewellery with floral motifs. However, as the 1970s progressed, glam rock arrived – and the face of fashion changed once again.

Glitter was the key feature of the glam rock look, featured on everything from bracelets, bangles to necklaces and rings. Statement earrings were also essential for a truly 1970s look. Usually paired with enormous hair and dramatic make up to match. Jewellery was still produced in cheaper materials like plastic. This allowed for affordable layering and a range of bright and bold colours. Despite the disposable nature of the pieces, glam rock was hugely popular. You can still find its influence in today’s jewellery designs.

If you want to create a 1970s look in your own collection, pay a visit to Hatton Garden. With a great range of vintage and modern jewellery. You are bound to find something to suit your style!.
