Spring clean your jewellery

diamond-ringsThere may still be a chill in the air outside, but the warmer months are on their way and it’s almost time for a spot of spring cleaning! Whilst you’re clearing out cupboards and scrubbing the floors, don’t forget that your jewellery could also do with a bit of TLC too. Here are some great tips to help you get your favourite pieces shining in no time.

Get it repaired

If you’ve got a necklace with a broken clasp, a pearl bracelet that needs restringing or even a diamond ring that’s fallen prey to a chip, all is not lost! Many of the stores in Hatton Garden offer a jewellery repair service which allows them to put your once loved item back into perfect working order.

Polish it up

If your jewellery isn’t broken or damaged, but has lost its original lustre, purchase a specially formulated jewellery cleaning solution and a soft microfiber cloth and give it a polish to bring out its previous sparkle. If you want a deeper clean or are worried about applying the solution yourself, pop in and see one of Hatton Garden’s jewellers – they’ll be happy to advise on the best methods to get your gold, silver or other precious item back to its former glory.

Store it properly

Now that your jewellery is in tip top shape, it’s important to take steps to ensure that it stays that way! Jewellery storage options range from silk lined pouches to designated jewellery boxes, but no matter which option you choose, it’s time for those days of throwing your pieces on the bedside table to end. Look after your jewellery properly and you’ll be able to enjoy it for many more years to come.
