Everyone knows a new year equals a new wardrobe – and that includes jewellery! Here’s what’s hot in the jewellery world for 2014:
Gemstones are set to be an ongoing trend this year, with coloured stones such as sapphires, rubies and emeralds becoming more popular than diamonds. Coloured stone engagement rings will continue to be a popular choice this year.
Symbolic, ritualistic jewellery is everywhere on the catwalks at the moment. Talismans and jewellery encompassing ancient philosophies with hues of rust, flame and turquoise will be popular throughout the year.
Jewellery also looks to the Far-East for inspiration this year, with minimalist, Zen-like styles everywhere; soft shades of grey-green and jade with hints of Asian lacquer red create pieces which are easy to wear, with bold chokers and cuffs making a real statement.
Jewellery gets a little wild this season too, with South African and Brazilian influences – ranges are inspired by African styles with the addition of Brazilian crafting techniques, and bold colours such as coral, ruby and amethyst are the perfect complement to earthy tones of green and brown; this is jewellery inspired by ancient sculpture. Expect bold earrings, stunning pendants and statement cuffs.
